The type of braces Sydney CBD dentists offer
Fast braces
Forget the horror stories from friends who’ve endured 24 months or more of treatment. With Fast Braces, your smile can be transformed in as little as 6 months (or at a stretch 12 months, but it depends on the complexities of your bite and teeth). Fast braces are available with transparent wires so they’re less obvious.
Lingual braces
No one else even has to know you are wearing lingual braces. With these type of braces, wires and braces are placed on the inside of the teeth. They are very similar to traditional braces, however they are almost invisible to other people.
Traditional braces
Yes, the traditional metal appliances are still available. The design has been streamlined, so compared to your days at school when every second kid had a mouthful of metal, today’s metal braces are quite attractive. Depending on your bite issues, these type of braces may be an effective way of treating severe overcrowding and realigning bites.
Invisalign®
Braces without the wires! The treatment requires you to wear a sequence of customised transparent aligners to help move your teeth into the proper position. Invisalign® braces are suitable to patients with minor dental crowding and spacing
Invisalign® lite may be recommended in lieu of braces. Sydney CBD’s A Better Smile Dental Centre sometimes uses this treatment for correcting minor smile improvements prior to cosmetic dental procedures.
It’s exciting to see how far brace technology has come. If you start your Invisalign journey under the guidance of Dr Joel Kligman, founder and owner of A Better Smile, you can be sure you’re in safe hands. Not only is the Sydney CBD dentist a Diamond provider, he has successfully treated more than 3,000+ happy patients.
Adults vs teen braces in Sydney CBD
No matter what age you are, brace technology is the same. The length and type of braces will depend on your teeth and jaw problems. If your dentist agrees your teen is a good candidate for invisible braces, it’s a good option—particularly if your child is very self-conscious. When you’re older you tend to care less about what people think. But if you can cast your mind back to what it was like to be an awkward teen, needing braces can feel like the end of the world. Invisible braces for teens can make the experience a little less dramatic.
However, the earlier overbites, crowding and jaw issues are dealt with the less problematic it will be as you grow older.
What to expect—bracing yourself for treatment
The cost of braces in Sydney CBD
There’s no denying brace treatment can be expensive, but it may be more affordable than you imagine. Again, there’s no easy answer because it all depends on the length of brace treatment and whether or not you stick to your dentists recommendations (particularly if you wear removable aligners). At A Better Smile Dental Centre, there are flexible payment plans to help ease the burden of having to pay upfront. Eligible patients can customise the payments to suit their budget over a period of 6-12 months.
Regular check-ups
With braces comes regular appointments with your treatment provider. We know life can get busy, which is why when you’re working in the city, having a dentist in Sydney CBD can make life easier. You may be expected to book in for check-ups every 4 to 6 weeks.
You won’t be able to eat JUST anything
If you’re wearing traditional braces or lingual braces, it’s very important to watch what you put in your mouth. The first thing you’ll learn is you won’t be able to bite into fruit or vegetables. You can however dice them into smaller pieces and chew with your back teeth. Avoid sticky or chewy food such as chewing gum, tough-as-boots steak, toffees, hard lollies and crunchy food such as nuts and popcorn—you don’t want to damage your braces.
Avoid drinking coffee or remove your aligners when you have your caffeine hit or drink beverages such as red wine that may discolour your aligners.
Treatment time
It all depends on the severity of your bite and teeth issues. For minor corrections Fast Braces may see you brace-free in as little as six months, but be prepared to be in it for the long haul if you have severe problems with jaw alignment.
